Make a day of it on the Causeway Coastal Route

As a special privilege for anyone doing a running tour, for a small additional cost, you can make use of the hot shower facilities at Ballyness Caravan Park in Bushmills.

Once you have freshened up, refuel with a bite to eat and either, try out some the the many other activities on offer or take a stroll along one of the many beautiful beaches.

Coastal Tours

Causeway Coastal Route - 10k

Starting at the old ruins of Dunseverick Castle, we go along the beautiful rugged Causeway Coastal Route and across White Park Bay beach before passing through Ballintoy Harbour and finish with a wee climb up to Larrybane Quarry near Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge.

For Game of Thrones fans,  Ballintoy Harbour was the setting for Theon’s reunion with Yara, as well as his baptism into the religion of the drowned God. Larrybane Quarry is where Lord Renly swears to Lady Stark he will avenge Ned Stark's death, but alas, meets his own end at the hands of Melisandre's shadow baby.

This route may require trail shoes depending on the weather but can be completed in normal trainers with care. The route is undulating with a steep climb at the end. It also involves climbing over rocks at each end of White Park Bay beach. But remember, the tours will be at a pace that suits you so walking parts of it is fine (that's what I do).

The meeting point to start is the Dunseverick Castle car park on the Causeway Road.

Ballycastle/Fairhead Tour - 20k

Not a tour for the fainthearted - but quite possibly my favourite. Starting in Ballycastle, we traverse the coastline below Fairhead before climbing up through the grasslands to the main headland itself for amazing views all around - looking back to Ballycastle, out to Rathlin Island and Scotland, and ahead to Murlough Bay. And for all you Game of Thrones fans, Fairhead is a famous location used in Season 7.

Although part of this route is on road, trail shoes are essential. All tours will be at a pace to suit those taking part.

The meeting point to start is the front of the Marine Hotel in Ballycastle.

Fairhead Tour - 5 to 7k

This is also not a tour for the fainthearted - but a really worthwhile run on Fairhead for amazing views of all around - west to Ballycastle, north to Rathlin Island and Scotland, and east to Murlough Bay. And for all you Game of Thrones fans, Fairhead is a famous location used in Season 7.

This route passes through areas of open land and working farmland. Livestock may be present and ground conditions are often uneven, wet and mucky underfoot and as such, trail shoes are essential.

All tours will be at a pace to suit those taking part.

The meeting point to start is at the farm car park (£2 per car) clearly signposted off the Fairhead Rd.
